Message from the Acting Dean

ANSWERING THE CALL IN THE ULTIMATE TIME OF NEED

Thank you for visiting our digital annual report. We hope that in reading about our accomplishments this past fiscal year (July 2020-June 2021), you learn a bit more about who we are and what we do.

The UK College of Medicine includes “medicine” in its name, but that encompasses so much more than what appears at the surface. In this digital report you’ll see that our team includes individuals with a variety of skills and specializations that help us grow in our mission.

We saw our college community rise to the occasion and volunteer for the UK COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic in the ultimate time of need. Our educational capabilities expanded through additional courses and certifications, the growth of combined degree programs, and a generous gift from a distinguished alumnus. Our Alliance Research Initiative went through its first year of outstanding research and mentorship while adding three new teams. The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion made tremendous strides in enhancing the pipeline in medicine and research, while establishing events and initiatives that promoted inclusivity for all. We had wellness advocates and faculty leaders step up to hold us accountable and focus on what’s important – the well-being and advancement of our community, especially during these challenging times.

Our college includes learners, faculty, and staff with diverse experiences and expertise in medicine, research, and education. This past year was a tremendous example of what we can accomplish when we work together.

“The UK College of Medicine includes “medicine” in its name, but that encompasses so much more than what appears at the surface.”
